Chris started writing a detailed blog post about the birth of our son, so hopefully we can post that soon. In the meantime, people have been requesting pics so I'll post a few now. It's been a great week so far...Luke is a chill man and rarely cries and has to be woken to be fed. This may be due to his size...we were shocked by his large size at birth, as the docs thought he'd be 7.5 pounds at the induction date (two weeks late). After 15 hours of labor and 3 exhausting hours of pushing, the doc was convinced Luke was making no progress so he highly recommended a c-section. I have to say that we were a bit devastated, especially Chris, but we wanted Luke to be healthy so we decided to go for it. It only took about 10 minutes. Chris saw Luke come out and was a bit frightened by his looks...he was brownish-purple, his eyes were wide open, his head was oblong and VERY bruised, and his face was bruised pretty badly, as well. That's when the docs noticed his size and they were blown away. There was a contest to see who could guess his weight...I have no idea who won but Luke weighed in at 9lbs, 15 oz. Holy cow. At his one week Dr. apt yesterday, he had gained a pound and a half since we left the hospital, so now he weighs a whopping 10lbs, 9oz. That's a huge baby! The doctor actually took him back to the scale at the end of the apt to be sure his weight was correct...a pound and a half weight gain since Friday!
Anyway, here are some pics. Please keep your fingers crossed that Luke remains as chill and easygoing as he's been since he was born...we will be VERY lucky if this happens!

AND I can attest that Luke is indeed a chill guy and BIG! Yes indeed our little "glow worm" all swaddled. He is a cuddly teddy bear and a treat to hold. He is one lucky guy to have Em and Chris as his parents!!!
Love,
MOM/Gran
